Cinemas are now open across the UAE, and with restrictions around Covid-19 easing worlwide, the last few months of 2020 will see some exciting movie releases. From the highly anticipated film Tenet to a wave of female-centric action films, here are some of the major blockbusters heading to the silver screen soon.
Tenet
Release date: August 27
Starring: John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki
Christopher Nolan’s latest sci-fi epic is one of the most anticipated films of the year. An action epic with a time-travel twist, Tenet tells the story of an international spy trying to prevent another world war from breaking out. For a more memorable viewing experience, the Dubai Opera will be showing the film on Friday, August 28, at 12 pm, 5 pm and 9.30 pm.
Mulan
Release date: September 4
Starring: Yifei Liu, Donnie Yen and Jet Li
Mulan is based on the Chinese folklore The Ballad of Mulan and a live-action adaptation of Disney’s 1998 animated film of the same name. Mulan, a fearless young woman disguises herself as a man to battle northern invaders in China to protect her ailing father from serving in the Imperial Army.
The King’s Man
Release date: September 17
Starring: Stanley Tucci, Gemma Arterton, Harris Dickinson
A prequel to the hit series, The King’s Man follows one man who must race against time to stop history’s worst tyrants and criminal masterminds as they get together to plot a war that could wipe out millions of people and destroy humanity.
Wonder Woman 1984

Starring: Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Pedro Pascal and Kristen Wiig
Set in 1984, during the Cold War, the film sees Wonder Woman come into conflict with two formidable foes—media businessman Maxwell Lord and friend-turned-enemy Cheetah while reuniting with her love interest Steve Trevor. The film is the sequel to 2017’s Wonder Woman and the ninth installment in the DC Extended Universe.
Death On The Nile
Release date: October 22

In the film adaptation of the Agatha Christie novel, Detective Hercule Poirot investigates the murder of a young heiress aboard a cruise ship on the Nile River.
Black Widow

At birth, the Black Widow (Natasha Romanova) is given to the KGB, which grooms her to become its ultimate operative. When the U.S.S.R. breaks up, the government tries to kill her as the action moves to present-day New York, where she is a freelance operative.
No Time To Die
