As one of the most influential creatives of the 21st century, Tom Ford certainly has an eye for design. However, it is not just in the world of fashion where Ford excels, with his interior taste being just as spectacular. The American fashion designer‘s former London home has recently been put up for sale, with his statement interior mark still intact.
The property, located in the Gilston Road in the borough of Chelsea, London, currently sits on the market at US $18.1 million, a significant mark up on what Ford initially purchased the property for, at around $ 4.08 million, in 1997.
Although Ford is not the current owner of the property, it is believed that he owned the Victorian home from 1997 to 2009, however, the subsequent owners have chosen to keep the designer’s slick interior cues in place.
After purchasing the four-story home, reportedly, over twenty years ago, the 59-year-old designer underwent an exhaustive re-design of the interior, implementing his own signature touch in every room.
When Ford bought the 3,700-square-foot property it featured two bedrooms, however, later owners have added an additional bedroom.
The home is now comprised of three bedrooms, three bathrooms, three reception rooms, a cellar, a gym, and a private courtyard.
The Gilston Road property is situated on what is reputed to be the third most expensive street in the UK and is up for sale through the London estate agency Knight Frank.
Described as “a country mansion in the center of town,” the home is said to give the feel of being in the countryside, with the “walled garden goes around the entire house, that just does not exist in London, let alone other locations.”
“It feels like it has been designed by one of the world’s most stylish people,” says property leasing agent from Knight Frank, Charles Olver. “It’s a proper entertaining home. A statement piece.”
