Dubai is set to reopen to the public starting with a live concert with Emirati singer Hussain Al Jassmi

Four months after the onset of Covid-19 and the consequent closures of live performance venues across the emirate, we’re excited to announce that Dubai Opera is set to reopen its doors to the public with a host of exclusive events and concerts.

Opening its doors this August, the opera house will welcome back audiences in style, kickstarting with and in-person concert with Emirati musician Hussain Al Jassmi. Having been immersed in the country’s efforts to raise awareness during the start of the pandemic, it is befitting that the “Boshreit Kheir” hitmaker should be the first to grace the stage on August 1.

Headlining an Eid charity concert dubbed “Celebrate Giving,” Al Jassmi’s performance will be accompanied by Lebanese singer and hitmaker Yara. The concert is organized by the pan-Arab TV channel MBC, with all proceeds from the concert going toward the Unicef Reimagine Campaign.

Shortly after the Al Jassmi concert, audiences at the Dubai Opera will have the chance to bear witness to the holographic return of legendary Egyptian singer Umm Kulthum. Known for her vocal ability and unique style, Kulthum gained notoriety and fame during her career which spanned the 1920s to the 1970s. Having appeared in a successful run of virtual shows last December, the Kulthum hologram will make a reappearance at the Dubai Opera from August 6 to 8. Tickets for both performances can be bought via the Dubai Opera website. We hear tickets are selling like hot cakes, so we recommend booking in advance.
