Lisa Marie Presley, singer and songwriter and only child of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, has died at 54.

According to multiple reports, Presley suffered a cardiac arrest on January 12, and was taken to hospital earlier in the day from her home in Calabasas, California.

Last night, her mother Priscilla confirmed in a statement: “It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us. She was the most passionate strong and loving woman I have ever known. We ask for privacy as we try to deal with this profound loss. Thank you for the love and prayers. At this time there will be no further comment.”

Lisa Marie’s passing comes just two days after she attended the Golden Globes, where Austin Butler won Best Actor in a Motion picture for playing Elvis. Lisa Marie appeared deeply emotional when the actor thanked Priscilla and Lisa Marie, saying “I love you forever.” He later told reporters that he is “endlessly grateful” to the Presleys for “welcoming me into their family in such a beautiful way.”

Lisa Marie lost her father, Elvis Presley, when she was nine years old, going on to become the sole heir to his estate upon the deaths of her grandfather and great grandmother in 1979 and 1980.

She had four children, Benjamin and the actor Riley Keough, with her first husband Danny Keough, and twin daughters Harper and Finley with her ex-husband Michael Lockwood. She was also married briefly to Michael Jackson in 1994, and the actor Nicholas Cage in 2002.

Tragically, her son Benjamin died by suicide in 2020, a loss that she has spoken of in the past as devastating. Writing on instagram shortly after his death she said: “My heart and soul went with you. The depth of the pain is suffocating and bottomless without you every moment of every day.” In her last Instagram post, in August 2022, she shared an essay she had written for People about her grief.
