Lionel Richie Will Perform at The Dubai Jazz Festival 2020

The second headliner of the Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival 2020 has been confirmed and it is none other than Lionel Richie. The 90’s pop legend will be performing live on Thursday, February 27. Jazz lovers, get your credit cards ready because the tickets for the event go on sale tomorrow – November 6.

Richie will be supported by the American Jazz fusion band Spyro Gyra during his performance.

Over the years, Richie has released romantic numbers such as Three Times a Lady, Still, and Endless Love. His song Truly from the album Lionel Richie won a Grammy award and the album itself sold more than four million copies. What’s more, after launching his solo career in 1982, Richie was relentless and won numerous honors for his music. He composed the well known 1985 charity single “We Are The World”  in collaboration with the late pop legend Michael Jackson.

Little did you know, Lionel Richie wasn’t always a songwriter and singer. He grew up in Tuskegee, Alabama and was known as the neighborhood tennis headliner. In fact, he got a tennis grant to go to Tuskegee Institute where he pursued a degree in Economics.  Richie considered to turn into a priest from the outset, but ultimately ruled against it and that is the point at which he chose to proceed with his music profession.

Richie made his Middle East debut back in 2014 by performing Yalla Habibi in Dubai. He also performed at the Formula 1 Grand Prix Abu Dhabi in 2016. Other than that, he has performed in Morocco, Egypt, and Libya. It is safe to say that Richie has become an exceptional entity in the Arab nations, and during his performance, festival-goers can expect Richie to perform many of his famous tracks.

The American legend will also be performing at the upcoming Winter at Tantora Festival in Saudi Arabia.
