A First Look At The Lion King, Starring Beyoncé and Donald Glover

It’s been one whole year since Beyoncé confirmed rumors that she will play Nala in the live-action reboot of Disney classic The Lion King, and now the first trailer has been released.

Be prepared, as Scar, who is played by Chiwetel Ejiofor, would say. It’s as atmospheric as you’d hope for, as we are presented with the familiar opening moments of the Disney tale, where Rafiki (John Kani) presents a young Simba (Donald Glover) to the animals of the Pride Lands.

“It is a director’s dream to assemble a talented team like this to bring this classic story to life,” director Jon Favreau – the man also behind the live-action remake of The Jungle Book – has said of the all-star cast. And, although the short teaser might mostly celebrate the actors’ names in lights to the rousing rhythms of “Circle of Life”, the glimpse of Simba snuggling into his mother Sarabi (Alfre Woodard) is enough to get you pumped for next summer’s release date.
