Lili Reinhart Doesn’t Believe She’ll Be Invited Back to the Met Gala After Kim Kardashian Comment

Lili Reinhart has attended multiple Met Galas in the past, but she’s not sure if she’ll be invited back to fashion’s biggest night.

Speaking with W, Lili confirmed that although she has had “fun” at the 2022 event, she believes her comments about Kim Kardashian‘s drastic means of fitting into a Marilyn Monroe dress might influence her future attendance.

In case you missed it, Kim made headlines when she appeared at the 2022 event in a Marilyn Monroe dress. In order to wear the dress, Kim went through an intense and potentially harmful weight loss regimen.

There was backlash to Kim’s comments and decision, and shortly after the Met Gala was held, Lili made an Instagram post that referenced celebrity diet culture. As E! notes, Lili never named the Kardashian directly. Instead, she wrote, “To openly admit to starving yourself for the sake of the Met Gala. When you know very well that millions of young men and women are looking up to you and listening to your every word. The ignorance is other-worldly disgusting.”

She told W that after she said “a certain something about a certain person in a certain dress,” she doesn’t think that she’ll be invited back.

Lili continued, adding, “I have always wanted to stand for something. And while I don’t like it if one comment by me turns into 17 articles in People magazine, I never overthink what I post. It has to be a true representation of how I feel. And I would say that whether I had 100 followers or 100 million.”

There’s no word yet on who will be attending next year’s Met Gala, but we already know the theme. Scheduled for May 1, 2023, the event honors designer Karl Lagerfeld with a theme called Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.
