Last August 4, the then-Meghan Markle marked her birthday as a star of legal drama Suits. However, just 12 months on, the former American actor will spend her big day in rather different circumstances. The star, who will turn 37 in a few days’ time, has since given up her TV role, moved from Toronto to London, and become engaged and married to Britain’s HRH Prince Harry in a whirlwind year.
So, how will the newlywed Duchess of Sussex ring in a new year, her first as a member of the Royal Family? Well, according to reports, she’ll be busy celebrating another couple. According to Hello, the Duchess will likely spend the day at a wedding with Prince Harry, who is serving as the best man to one of his closest friends, Charlie van Straubenzee. The royal’s attendance at the nuptials was confirmed by royal photographer Tim Rooke on Twitter. “Unfortunately I will be missing the wedding of Charlie Van Straubenzee and Daisy Jenks where Prince Harry will be best man on August 4th in Churt Surrey as I will be on the beach. Can’t do everything!” he wrote.
Straubenzee, who is set to wed Daisy Jenks, is reportedly an old schoolfriend of Prince Harry’s, with the pair first meeting at Ludgrove Prep School. Straubenzee was one of Prince Harry’s ushers at his own wedding on May 19, according to The Sun. While the Duchess of Sussex’s attendance at the wedding has not been confirmed, Meghan has often acted as her now-husband’s plus one at celebrations. It will be the second birthday of Meghan’s that the couple is believed to have spent together, with Prince Harry reportedly whisking off the Duchess last year to mark the occasion in South Africa.
