First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes dog walking around Claridge’s. According to multiple reports, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have welcomed another four-legged friend into their royal family.
It’s said to be a Labrador retriever, which is one of the most popular dog breeds in the United Kingdom. They got it earlier this summer, and the pup has been reportedly spending much of its time in the Cotswolds, where Harry and the Duchess of Sussex have a country retreat.
Harry and Markle now have two dogs, the first being a rescue beagle named Guy. (The Union Jack–wearing pup was said to have been playing with Markle as she got her makeup done on her wedding day.)
Having a dog, or dogs, is something of a royal tradition: William and Kate got their cocker spaniel, Lupo, months after their Westminster Abbey wedding. Queen Elizabeth II famously loves corgis and dorgis (corgi mixed with dachshund), while Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles prefer Jack Russell terriers. The Duke of Windsor and Wallis Simpson had multiple pugs. Just this month, pictures of Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie with their Norfolk terriers for British Vogue were released.
But the bigger question is: When will the world get a glimpse of the Harry and Markle’s newest addition? Royal Pupwatch 2018 officially begins.
