He graduated from one of the world’s most prestigious academies last year, and Crown Prince Hussein has been soaring from strength to strength with his military achievements ever since. The Jordanian royal, who followed in his father HM King Abdullah II’s footsteps by attending Britain’s Royal Sandhurst Military Academy, currently holds the rank of second lieutenant in the Jordanian Armed Forces.
The Crown Prince is known to enjoy adrenaline-thrilling activities such as riding motorbikes, mountain hiking, and piloting helicopters – the latter in which he just marked a milestone moment. The 23-year-old completed his first solo flight in a rotorcraft, he revealed with his 1.4 million Instagram followers this week, after which his colleagues celebrated in a rather dampening fashion. Following his touch-down in a helicopter, the Crown Prince received a handshake, and then a bracing dousing from a bucket of water.
“Receiving the traditional water salute after my first helicopter solo training,” Crown Prince Hussein captioned a clip of the moment. The royal, who also holds a degree in International History from Washington’s Georgetown University, is the eldest child of Their Majesties King Abdullah II and Queen Rania. As heir apparent, he often accompanies his parents on local and international visits, and has also delivered key speeches, such as his solo address to the UN General Assembly in September 2017.
Crown Prince Hussein also heads up the Crown Prince Foundation, and became the youngest person to chair a UN Security Council session in 2015, when he was 20 years old. With such a varied and wide-reaching CV after graduating university in 2016, we can’t wait to see what the coming years hold for him.
