They were among the hundreds of guests at Windsor Castle when Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex exchanged vows on May 19, but the Clooneys’ next meeting with the royals looks to be a little more intimate. Hollywood star George and Beirut-born human rights lawyer Amal are set to host a dinner with the newlyweds (and parents-to-be) next month at their Berkshire home, according to the Daily Mail, with an extra-special guest in tow.
The publication reveals that former US First Lady Michelle Obama will dine with the foursome, as she will be in the UK to promote her new memoir, Becoming, on December 4. The writer and lawyer will appear at London’s Southbank Centre as part of her book tour, and will remain the the UK for three days. “Michelle is keen to see the Clooneys when she is in the UK, as she and Barack are very close to George,” a source told the Daily Mail. “She was instrumental in introducing Harry and Meghan and feels a responsibility to see how they are getting on, as well as celebrate the news they are about to become parents.”
The duke and duchess’s new arrival may well be a keen topic of conversation at the dinner table, after George and Amal have reportedly recommended their nanny to the royals. “I’ll tell Meghan that in all the things you can give a person, the most important thing you can give them is yourself and your love,” Connie Simpson, who also also worked for Emily Blunt and Jessica Biel, told The Star. The Clooneys have also been touted as potential godparents for Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex’s child, though Kensington Palace will not confirm such news until well after the baby’s arrival.
