Dubai’s Royal Family Just Got a Little Bit Bigger

Congratulations are in order for HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who has this week been blessed with a new grandson. HH Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, daughter of the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has given birth to a baby boy, the royal revealed on social media.

“We’ve been blessed with today with our first child, a baby boy who we named Mohammed,” Sheikha Latifa told her 530,000 Instagram followers, adding that her son was born on July 28. The royal, who is vice-chairman of the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, married Sheikh Faisal bin Saud Al Qasimi, who belongs to the royal family of Ras Al Khaimah, in 2016.

The little royal’s birthday falls just after his father’s, who marked his big day a week earlier on July 20. “Happiest birthday to my partner in life, may your days and heart be filled with happiness each and every day,” Sheikha Latifa wrote on Instagram at the time. The news has been widely shared across social media by members of Dubai’s royal family, with many congratulating the new parents on their arrival.

Little Mohammed is not the first grandchild HH Sheikh Mohammed has welcomed this summer, with his daughter, HH Sheikha Hessa bint Mohammed Al Maktoum, giving birth to a baby girl earlier this month. Sheikha Hessa is married to Sheikh Saeed bin Dalmook bin Juma Al Maktoum, and the couple is believed to already have two children, Sheikha Hind and Sheikh Rashid, prior to their new arrival. The couple wed in 2008, in a ceremony attended by His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.

Mabrouk to the family on the happy news!
