Elissa is Postponing Her Next Album Release Till After World Cup 2022

Lebanese popstar Elissa has postponed the release of her upcoming album and is expected to drop the record after the Fifa World Cup Qatar 2022. The 49-year-old said that she is extending the release since she knows everyone will be focused on the football tournament, including herself.

“I wanted to release the new album during the summer but now I postponed it to after the World Cup because, as you know, people’s attention will be focused on the tournament,” said Elissa in a televised interview on Wednesday, after performing a sold-out concert in Istanbul. “Even myself, I am looking forward to it and will be following.” She continued, “It was lovely to be on stage and really feel the love and to see the Arabic community here in Istanbul. People came from Dubai, Palestine, Iraq, and even from Iran. It was very special.”

Although the ‘Betmoun’ singer confirmed that the album is completed, the new release date has not been announced yet. However, the anticipation for the artist’s album has exceeded after the release of her new single that dropped on Wednesday, ‘Ana W Bass’ (‘Mine Only’). The soft and melodious track can be counted as one of the more intimate songs in Elissa’s repertoire.

Captured on an eight-millimeter film, the music video for the song is equally cozy and intimate with shots of the singer swiftly walking by the beachside and around the house while she fondly looks at the camera. “The video is more simple and playful. It is something different. It’s not really a music video because I am not there performing or lip-syncing the song,” she said of the visuals.

The album will also feature three songs by famed Lebanese composer and singer Marwan Khoury. “I love him and he is one of my favorite lyricists and songwriters, as well as the fact that he is also a great solo artist in his own right,” Elissa said.
