Dubai-based Iranian singer Layla Kardan‘s brainchild is a new entertainment and dining venue in the emirate. Located at the Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina, Papillon has been co-created with famed international artists including dancer Denise Faye helming creative direction and choreography. Renowned architect and interior designer Roham Shamekh is also on board to create a stunning interior for the location.
The alluring venue promises a lineup of talented performers from Milan, Paris, New York, and Argentina. Dressed in custom pieces by Atelier Bordelle, performers are expected to tell a story of grandeur and romance, that “perfectly encapsulates the flight of the female.” Papillon’s culinary offering features a menu with an artistic flair created by head chef Tiger, who has been trained at Michelin Joel Robuchon in Taipei and is set to become the sous chef of Atelier Joel Robuchon, Dubai. Expect a unique fine-dining experience, complete with French Mediterranean flavors.
Kardan expressed her excitement and anticipation for the launch, saying, “What we are doing here is special – we have a story to tell and a message that rings loud and clear – without divulging too much, I encourage everyone to come and experience first-hand the incredible talent we have gracing the stage and of course me, waiting for all the amazing people who support me consistently on my music journey, from venue to venue. Now, I am here permanently and not going anywhere and can’t wait to see all the faces I’ve missed so much,” she says.
Choreographer Faye is known for her work in the Academy Award-winning film Chicago, and Burlesque, featuring Cher and Christina Aguilera. Faye has also worked with Cher on numerous tours and her Las Vegas residency and collaborated with stars Jennifer Aniston, Johnny Depp, Nicole Kidman, and Penelope Cruz on highly-acclaimed Hollywood and Broadway projects. “Having Denise Faye at the helm of this project has been the greatest blessing,” shared Kardan. “I have always been a fan of her incredible work and performances in Chicago and Burlesque and now I get to work alongside her, which is also a dream come true.”
