Kylie Jenner Responds to Being Dethroned by An Egg

Kylie Jenner has officially been dethroned by an egg for having Instagram’s most liked picture ever. Yes, you read that correctly.

On January 4, a stock image of a brown egg against a plain, white background surfaced on an account by the name of @world_record_egg on the social media platform alongside the caption: “Let’s set the world record together and get the most liked post on Instagram. Beating the current world record held by Kylie Jenner (18 million)! We got this.” At the time of writing, the image has garnered approximately 24,806,651 likes and over 900,000 comments. To put it into perspective, the amount of people who liked the picture equal more than the entire population of Australia.

In case you forgot, the beauty mogul previously held the record for the most liked picture on Instagram with a sweet photo of her newborn baby clutching onto her thumb. The 21-year-old captioned it simply “Stormi Webster,” with an image of an angel emoji. The image went on to accumulate over 18 million likes, dethroning Beyoncé, who’s pregnancy announcement was the most liked Instagram post of 2017. Prior to Jenner’s name reveal, the top ten most liked posts on Instagram belonged to just three people: Beyoncé, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Selena Gomez.

The comment section on what is formerly-known as Instagram’s most liked post are covered in egg emojis. In response, Jenner posted a video of herself cracking a similar-looking egg on the pavement. “Take that little egg,” she wrote.
