Just when we’ve reached peak designer collaborations with recent collections from Supreme X Louis Vuitton, JW Anderson and Uniqlo and Vetements X Tommy Hilfiger, we’re now seeing partnerships unravel between art and design within the region. Dubai-based real estate concept KOA has teamed up with Cuadro Gallery in DIFC for a month-long art exhibition in the KOA Canvas show apartment running until August 31.
Those who are in the midst of renovating are sure to take home some major decoration inspiration as the exhibit will showcase thoughtful works from a number of the Gallery’s emerging and established artists. They include one of Bahrain’s most prominent contemporary artists Jaffar Al Oraibi, Dubai-based visual artist Zeinab Al Hashemi, Twins Franklyn and Brendan Connor (more commonly known as The Connor Brothers), American artist Brad Downey, Spanish painter Alex de Fluvia as well as American painter, sculptor and printmaker Hunt Slonem among many others.
Founder of KOA, Mohammed Bin Zaal stated, “KOA are excited to work with Cuadro on this unique collaboration showcasing Cuadro’s incredible regional and international artists within ‘KOA Canvas’. KOA is passionate about supporting regional talent, and we pride ourselves on our collaborative spirit, so we’re delighted to partner with some of the region’s most outstanding creative for our first exhibition.“
KOA’s art show with Cuadro Gallery marks its first exhibition since its inception. The cutting-edge architectural concept was established in 2016 as an effort by Bin Zaal to push boundaries in design and nurture the local communities by way of design competitions, scholarships, art shows, and creative collaborations. Curator of Cuadro Gallery, Adam Hardy says, “The artworks will be rotated and updated during the coming months to allow the audience to engage in Cuadro’s international contemporary art platform, with carefully selected artworks being site specific to the unique space.”
