Kate, Princess of Wales, is said to be “doing well” following her recent abdominal surgery.
Kate, Princess of Wales, has been absent from the public eye after undergoing a planned abdominal surgery in January this year. According to the Kensington Palace, the surgery was successful, and the royal remained in the hospital for about two weeks after which she was discharged to continue recovering from home. While there have since been no updates on her recuperation, a palace source has told People that the princess “continues to be doing well.”
The news comes at the same time as Prince William pulling out of a memorial service for his godfather King Constantine of Greece on Tuesday. The reason behind the cancellation was stated as personal, and the palace did not indicate whether William’s absence was due to Kate’s surgery recovery. The Prince of Wales was slated to visit the St. George’s Chapel to honor his late godfather, and has informed the Greek royals that he would be able to make it.

The statement issued by Kensington Palace at the time of Kate’s release from the hospital shared that “she is making good progress.” It added, “The Prince and Princess wish to say a huge thank you to the entire team at the London Clinic, especially the dedicated nursing staff, for the care they have provided. The Wales family continues to be grateful for the well wishes they have received from around the world.” The princess’s last public appearance was on Christmas Day when she attended a church service with Prince William and their three children at the Sandringham estate. According to the palace, she is not expected to resume royal duties until Easter based on her medical advice at the time of the surgery’s announcement.
Another member of the royal family currently seeking medical treatment is King Charles III, who was diagnosed with cancer. The news was revealed in early February, without stating the form of cancer. “He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible,” the statement added.
