Prince William and Princess Kate have revealed their official family portrait for the year. The holiday card picture, which is a long-awaited royal tradition, sees the family of five posing together, and all smiles.
This year’s image has been generating more buzz than usual due to it being monochrome, minimalistic, and shot indoors, instead of their usual full-color, and outdoor snaps. Photographed by Josh Shinner in Windsor, the Wales family including children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, are all dressed in coordinated simple yet fail-safe white button-down and jeans outfits. While all members are standing next to each other, Princess Charlotte is seated on a chair, with her legs crossed.

The attire is in line with the pared-back feel of the holiday postcard, which leans away from the more formal settings British royals have been photographed in, in the past. It also marks a new era for the Wales family, with it being their first portrait in Windsor since they relocated from Apartment 1A in Kensington Palace last year.
However, it is not the first time the family has looked to casual outfits for their holiday card photos, as last year saw them holding hands on a sunny stroll in Norfolk, wearing coordinated shades of white and blue. Prior to that, the royals had chosen an unseen vacation photo from their trip to Jordan as their 2021 holiday greeting, and 2020 and 2018 were both pictures taken outside their country home, Anmer Hall.
