Last week, Karlie Kloss took to her Instagram page to share a series of envy-inducing snapshots of her quad biking in the desert and posing with camels during a desert get-away in Jordan. The supermodel was joined by her partner Joshua Kushner, singer Ellie Goulding, Princess Beatrice, designer Misha NoNoo, and Prince Hussein of Jordan.
Kloss and co. spent the majority of the trip in Wadi Rum, a desert landscape in the South of Jordan that is often called the Valley of the Moon for its pink terrain, sandstone cliffs, and chiseled canyons. In fact, the space has served as the setting for a number of extraterrestrial films, including Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
In Wadi Rum, the unexpected celebrity clique partook in a number of activities such as dune bashing, hiking, camping, and even an impromptu concert— NoNoo posted an Instagram story of Goulding performing an acoustic version of her hit song Burn. Both Kloss and Goulding shared an identical picture of themselves posing on ATV’s. “An adventure to remember,” the model captioned the photo.
Next up on the itinerary was a trip to the one of the new seven wonders of the world, the archaeological site of Petra, which is a two-hour drive from the Wadi Rum desert. Similarly, the ancient city of Petra also took form as a backdrop for Hollywood blockbusters including Indiana Jones. “Jordan was truly breathtaking. If you are looking for the trip of a lifetime, I can’t recommend it enough! A beautiful, captivating country,” wrote Goulding on her Instagram account. And she’s not wrong— with it’s extraordinary ancient sites and attractions, the kingdom has charmed tourists from around the world for decades.
So how is the seemingly random group of high-profile travelers connected? Goulding became friendly with the royal family after performing at the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge‘s 2011 nuptials. NoNoo was once rumored to be Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s matchmaker, meanwhile, Kloss and Princess Beatrice have been friends for some years (they presumably met through Goulding,) sharing a box at the 2016 U.S. Open in New York.
