On Wednesday, Jennifer Lopez, was in Mexico City promoting her new Netflix movie Atlas when a reporter threw a curveball, swapping out professional questions to take a dig at her personal life, particularly rumors about her divorce with Ben Affleck.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s relationship has recently come under the radar with divorce rumors circulating two years after the couple wed in 2022. The duo has yet to acknowledge the rumors, which would have remained the case had a reporter not asked a point-blank question to the 54-year-old actress during the press conference on Wednesday.
“Is your divorce with Ben Affleck real? These rumors?” the unidentified reporter unexpectedly interjected in a room full of press. Lopez’s costar, Simu Liu, immediately said. “Okay we’re not doing that. Thank you so much guys, we really appreciate it. Thank you.” Lopez then looked at the reporter and responded, “You know better than that.” Liu added, “C’mon, don’t come in with that energy, please.”
“If I could just end on one thing,” Liu continued. “Jen is a producer on this movie and the reason why I am here and why Sterling [K. Brown] was in this beautiful movie is because Jen cares. And Jen cares about things like representation and diversity, and she’s a boss.”

Rumors about their divorce began to circulate when Affleck was spotted leaving the Brentwood region of Los Angeles, where he was supposedly living apart from Lopez. The rumors escalated further when Affleck was seen going around Los Angeles looking for a new residence, noticeably not wearing a wedding band. However, the couple made a public appearance on Friday with their daughter Seraphina, marking their first outing together in nearly a month.
Lopez and Affleck dated on and off for years before calling it quits in 2004 and rekindled their love decades later in 2021. Speaking to Rolling Stone in a 2022 interview, the star revealed that she doesn’t see a breakup in her future with Affleck, despite their past. “I don’t think we would have got back together if we thought that was where it was headed,” she said. “We feel like what we found again is so much more important, and how we protect that and how we live our lives—what to share, what not to share—is the balance that we have now, the benefit of experience and the wisdom that we gained over the years.”
