Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are reportedly selling their Beverly Hills home.
If you feel like you knew this already, it’s because all of those Bennifer divorce rumors kicked off when Jennifer Lopez was spotted house-hunting in Los Angeles without Ben Affleck on May 14. The next day, In Touch reported that Affleck had already moved out of their $60 million home.
“Ben already moved out and they’ll likely have to sell the dream house they spent two years searching for,” the source said at the time. “They’ll never stop loving each other, but she can’t control him, and he can’t change her. There’s no way it could have lasted. They waited almost two decades to get back together, but in the end, they just couldn’t make it work…. They both said they’d matured and learned from their mistakes, but some of the bigger issues that tore them apart the first time remained the same.”
Nearly a month later, at least part of that prophecy has allegedly been fulfilled. According to a TMZ report published on June 8, the (maybe soon-to-be ex) couple are “quietly trying to sell the home they bought after they married” and have tapped realtor Santiago Arana from The Agency to make it happen. Sources told the publication that Arana has been showing the home for two weeks and the Afflecks are looking for $65 million.
While TMZ has declared the couple’s divorce “imminent,” Jennifer Lopez was still wearing her wedding ring during a Los Angeles outing on June 9. This news also comes after Live Nation announced Lopez would be canceling her world tour to spend more time with her family. “I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down,” Lopez said in her own statement to fans. “Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary. I promise I will make it up to you and we will all be together again. I love you all so much.”
Perhaps the couple are working through their marital issues separately, or maybe Lopez is simply leading the charge on a joint house hunt. Some celebrity gossip trackers have latched onto the conspiracy theory that Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck manufactured their breakup drama to distract from poor ticket sales and give J.Lo an excuse to drop out. Selling your dream home to commit to a bit definitely feels like a stretch, but crazier things have happened in Hollywood.
According to Entertainment Tonight, the Afflecks’ five-acre property features a 46,000-square-foot home with 12 bedrooms, 24 bathrooms, as well as an “indoor sports complex, sports lounge, and bar.” Maybe they’re looking for a home with a bit more going for it.
