Jennifer Lopez Reveals How Ben Affleck Proposed to Her: “I Was Quite Literally Speechless”

After sharing that her ideal proposal is one that would take place in an intimate setting as opposed to in public, it seems that Jennifer Lopez got just that. The newly-engaged star’s newsletter, On the JLO, started with Lopez saying, “Did you ever imagine your biggest dream could come true?” before she went on to reveal just how her once-again fiancé Ben Affleck popped the question.

Referring to the actor as “my beautiful love”, the 52-year-old shared that the proposal took place on a Saturday night when she was in her “favorite place on earth (in the bubble bath).” Lopez went on to describe how surprised and emotionally moved she was by reaching this point in her relationship with Affleck once again after they were first engaged in 2002. “I was taken totally off guard and just looked in his eyes smiling and crying at the same time trying hard to get my head around the fact that after 20 years this was happening all over again, I was quite literally speechless and he said, ‘Is that a yes?’ I said YES of course that’s a YES,” wrote the singer.

“I was smiling so big and tears were coming down my face, feeling so incredibly happy and whole,” she continued and explained how the proposal, although not a frilly one, was the most romantic thing she could have ever imagined. Lopez wrote, “Just a quiet Saturday night at home, two people promising to always be there for each other. Two very lucky people. Who got a second chance at true love.” The ‘Love Don’t Cost a Thing’ singer also shared a picture of her engagement ring, which features a green stone, and wrote, “Green has always been my lucky color and now, for sure, it always will be.”
