What would you do if you rolled up to a Dunkin’ drive-through and were met by Ben Affleck at the window? A few lucky residents in Massachusetts no longer have to wonder after a now-viral Super Bowl commercial brought the Academy Award-winning actor to a Dunkin’ in Medford, as an employee no less.
For the uninitiated, Dunkin’ and Affleck go way back, since the actor has been photographed by paparazzi multiple times holding donut bags and iced coffees. More recently, both Affleck and his wife Jennifer Lopez were spotted on a Dunkin’ run, proving that the love for sweet treats is a shared one. The actor took this love to the national TV level this Sunday when he appeared in the commercial as an employee at his beloved spot, serving unsuspecting customers their orders, and questions like “Do I look familiar?” to which the person funnily responds, “No”.
Other hilarious interactions see Affleck sporting his best customer service smile and greeting people with a simple, “Hello, welcome to Dunkin’,” taking a selfie with a customer, and dropping one-liners like “How can it be this inexpensive and good?” and “One second, I’m trying to find the bagels” as he taps away at the screen.
All seems to be going well in the 30-second clip before Affleck’s next customer turns out to be a shocked JLo, who says: “What are you doing? Is that what you do when you say you’re going to work all day?” Affleck throws a quick “I gotta go guys,” to his coworkers before Lopez adds, “Grab me a glazed!”
Speaking to People from the set of the commercial, Affleck said, “I think people already sort of think that I work for Dunkin’. In Boston, it was such a big deal.” He explains, “I think I became kind of associated with it, and this sounded like a fun opportunity to kind of play with that association, and a chance to come back here to shoot it at home in Boston.”
