After two years together, Jennifer Lopez officially filed for divorce from Ben Affleck earlier this week. According to reports, the ex-couple’s separation date has been set at as April 26, a mere 10 days after what would have been their second anniversary.

While the sad news has already done the rounds on the internet, what the world doesn’t know yet is the exact reason for Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s divorce. However, it seems that an anonymous source has gone on record about the topic with People. “[Jennifer is] very disappointed and sad, but Ben hasn’t given her any signs that he wants to continue their marriage,” the source has said. “He hasn’t shown any commitment and interest in making their marriage work. It’s gotten to the point that she just needs to look out for herself.”

Since the divorce announcement on August 20, reports have also revealed that the duo did not sign a prenup before tying the knot in Las Vegas in 2022. Another source also seems to suggest that it was Jennifer Lopez who finally took the call to part ways with Ben Affleck.
Jennifer and Ben first met and fell in love in 2002 on the sets of their movie Gigli. The duo quickly became one of Hollywood’s most followed couples, but unfortunately split in 2004, just four months before their wedding day. At the time, the couple maintained that the high level of media scrutiny around their relationship is what led to its demise. This time around, fans noticed that all may not be well between the stars when they stopped attending events together. Ben soon moved out of their home, and was helping ex-wife Jennifer Garner settle their daughter Violet Affleck into Yale University at the time of the divorce announcement.
