The increasing popularity of Formula One is bringing with it more and more star power to the races. While those in the UK and US are no strangers to celebrities walking up and down the paddock and the grid, Abu Dhabi too hosted its fair share of familiar faces this weekend.
As the milestone 15th season finale Grand Prix, the excitement at Yas Marina Circuit was palpable for more reasons than one. The race on Sunday, November 26 invited stars from all around the world to join the spectators, including actor Priyanka Chopra, and supermodels Naomi Campbell and Irina Shayk. While Chopra stopped by Ferrari to take a picture alongside driver Carlos Sainz Jr’s car, the race broadcast saw Campbell tuned into the Italian team’s from the garage (where Rihanna was spotted in Las Vegas), and Shayk’s Instagram stories featured a shot of Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes.
Also taking in all the action from the garage of Mercedes—which claimed second place in the Constructors’ Championship—were actors and brothers Chris and Liam Hemsworth. Chris, in particular, was seen having a quick chat with Hamilton and also sharing his support for fellow Australian and rookie driver Oscar Piatri. “I’m here to watch fellow Australian Oscar Piastri,” he told Sky Sports F1‘s Martin Brundle on the grid, before commending his performance this season: “[He’s what] 22 years old? Pretty wild.”
Other stars and athletes who were spotted at the paddock included tennis players Ons Jabeur and Maria Sharapova, actors Jason Statham and Orlando Bloom, former footballer Ronaldo, and rapper Will.i.am.
