His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, chaired a virtual meeting of the UAE Cabinet in which he also hosted a number of front-line healthcare workers from Covid-19 service centres.
Held on Tuesday, April 22, the meeting saw HH Sheikh Mohammed praising the efforts of federal and local healthcare authorities in curbing the spread of the virus and safeguarding public health, and also assuring the citizens as well as residents of the country that UAE stands in solidarity with them in the battle against the pandemic. “We are racing against time to make our country fully ready for various circumstances,” said the ruler of Dubai.
While speaking to the doctors and nurses remotely, he said: “Today you are setting the most wonderful examples of sacrifice and everyone will learn from you about the meanings of giving, humanity, and responsibility. We commend every second of the efforts and energies that you dedicate to the safety of citizens and residents, as well as your awareness of the dangers that you are facing every day to ensure our safety and the protection of our country.”

“Your stance and actions will go down in the annals of history and be passed on to generations to come. You are our heroes and strongest bastions, and the UAE’s protective shield,” Sheikh Mohammed continued.
The ruler also thanked the community volunteers, who are almost 8,000 in number from 115 nationalities, according to the authorities. “We are proud of UAE residents living with us, including doctors, nurses, and paramedics who are all joining forces and sparing no effort under the current exceptional circumstances,” said Sheikh Mohammed.
Adding: “We thank your families, your mothers, fathers, and children. All appreciation and gratitude to them! They are heroes as well, and we are ready to support you. We are all one team, and we are serving one country, and we are facing one common enemy.”
Sheikh Mohammed also approved a draft law during the meeting which will oversee the protection of national safety. Announcing the law he tweeted: “We approved a draft law on the protection of national safety. The new law guarantees the protection of society in cases of disasters and any healthcare, economic and environmental threats to our country.”
