HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has given his YouTube fanbase a rare glimpse into his personal story with the release of a new video series about his life. The short films mirror the memoirs of the Ruler of Dubai and Vice President of the UAE and the first installment entitled ‘My First Horse’ is available to view now.

The seven-minute video offers a fascinating insight into Sheikh Mohammed’s childhood. In a first-person account, it tells of the relationship with his first horse, Umm Halaj, which sparked a love and passion for equestrianism that he still holds dear today. In the film, he recalls that when his mother would wake up at night and find him missing from his bed, she would be certain to find him at the stables with his horses.

The film sews together a narrative made up of both reenactments and real footage from Sheikh Mohammed’s own personal archives. As the video cuts between various timelines, viewers can see the story develop as the young ruler takes care of his pony before it grows into a racing horse. We also see some appearances from a young HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.

Visitors to his YouTube channel can expect more installments which have been derived from Sheikh Mohammed’s book ‘My Story: 50 Memories from 50 Years of Service’. The video has a voice-over in which offers Arabic with English titles for everyone to enjoy. It’s unclear yet when the next episode will be released but we look forward to it.
