His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai has just approved a list of future projects that are on the path of building Dubai as the world’s best city. Molding the Emirate as per his vision, HH Sheikh Mohammed has also endorsed road and public transport projects which include a five-year plan for constructing internal roads in residential districts.
The projects will be developed by the emirate’s Roads and Transport Authority, RTA, and are aimed at enhancing the happiness of residents. They include a “Sky Garden” footbridge, bicycle lanes and promenades at Sheikh Zayed Road, Umm Suqeim and Jumeirah Beach.
The Sky Garden, set to constructed by the Dubai Creek, will connect many of the city’s landmarks along its shores. It is said to boast a stylish design, as well as a panoramic view of both, old and new Dubai. Featuring commercial outlets and green spaces, the Sky Garden promises to attract tourists.

HH Sheikh Mohammed also reviewed the Sunset promenade project which will be a beachfront area spanning 80,000sqm connected to Jumeirah Beach Walk. The promenade, also focused on increasing the quality of life of Dubai’s residents, will feature retail outlets, beach areas, unique models of several floating islands with a total beach area of 107,000sqm.
Between Dubai World Trade Centre and Financial Centre Metro Stations, bicycle lanes will transform the area underneath the Dubai Metro viaduct into a modern green space. The walkways include three main points – Bazaar Street, Technology Park and Urban Park spanning an area of 54,000sqm.
