January 4 marks His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s anniversary as Ruler of Dubai, and each year, the royal marks the occasion with a new project. This year, HH Sheikh Mohammed has launched the Dubai Social Agenda 33, a ten-year plan that highlights the theme of ‘Family: The Foundation of Our Nation’.
HH Sheikh Mohammed took to his official Instagram account yesterday to announce the new venture, saying, “As has become our custom to unveil promising national programmes and projects on January 4 of every year, today we announce the launch of the Dubai Social Agenda 33: our plan for the Dubai community over the next decade. Its theme is ‘Family: The Foundation of Our Nation’, and its budget is Dh208 billion until 2033. “We aim to double the number of Emirati families within a decade, provide residential neighborhoods that offer the world’s highest standard of living and safeguard our young generation against negative ideas that threaten the stability of our families. The Dubai Social Agenda outlines clear objectives and programmes based on the allocated budget, and will be overseen by my sons Hamdan, Maktoum, Ahmed and their brothers who grew up as part of the larger Dubai family and will care about its wellbeing more than anyone else. Our nation is not merely buildings and figures; it is made up of families and people. My message to everyone in charge is that our priority for the next stage is to protect, empower and support our families.”
With Dubai Social Agenda 33, HH Sheikh Mohammed doesn’t just hope to uplift the lives of Emirati citizens and their families, but also to further amplify Dubai’s prestigious standing in the world, and uplift families that live in the emirate. “Our goal is for Dubai to be among the world’s top three cities in terms of living standards. We also aim to accelerate social development among Dubai families. We have issued directives to double government support aimed at implementing the Social Agenda to Dh208 billion by 2033. We have also directed Hamdan bin Mohammed and Maktoum bin Mohammed to oversee the implementation of the agenda,” he elaborated.
Overall, the Dubai Social Agenda 33 will serve five major purposes
- The first goal of the Dubai Social Agenda 33 is fostering happy, cohesive and tolerant families that maintain ties with local values and their national identity. Empowering citizens of Dubai to be financially independent is another aim, with the hopes of promoting social stability.
- Along with this, the Dubai Social Agenda 33 will also prioritize the building of an even more advanced and efficient healthcare system, stressing further on living healthy with a strong focus on mental health, physical activity and nutrition, and improving the quality of affordable healthcare in Dubai.
- Education is a key pillar in the ten-year Dubai Social Agenda 33 plan. The programme will focus on elevating its education system in a manner that complements its future goals, and allows more citizens to access affordable, yet high-quality education.
- The fourth aim of the Dubai Social Agenda 33 is to create a more active social system in Dubai, giving all sections of its community equal opportunities, and promoting humanitarian work and volunteering activities among individuals and institutions.
- Finally, HH Sheikh Mohammed’s newest venture looks forward to further improving a range of factors that will help make Dubai one of the world’s most desirable locations. On the list are housing facilities, infrastructure, services that help discover sport talent, and programmes that will highlight Emirati culture and its history.
With its budgets of AED 208 billion, the Dubai Social Agenda 33 seems like an incredibly promising plan to promote healthcare, community development, and a higher quality of life in the emirate. By 2033, it also aims to triple the number of Emiratis working in the private sector, and also provide each Emirati family with a land plot and loan within a year of application.
