Marking the 16th year of his time as ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid has initiated a new project focused on supporting regional bright minds. “Today we launch a new project to search for 1,000 Great Arab Minds in the fields of physics and mathematics, software and data science, economics and higher education and research,” he shared. The chosen talents’ research will be fostered in Dubai’s Museum of the Future, which is currently still in the making.

On Tuesday, Sheikh Mohammed revealed that a budget of AED 100 million will be dedicated to Great Arab Minds to harness fresh ideas. “Great minds built Arab civilization — today I believe we have the talent to build a better world,” His Highness said.

The project will be based in Dubai’s Museum of the Future, and will be overseen by Mohammed Al Gergawi, president of the Museum of the Future and Minister of Cabinet Affairs; Sarah Al Amiri, Minister of State for Advanced Sciences and chairwoman of the UAE Space Agency; Omar Al Olama, Minister of State for Digital Economy; and Shamma Al Mazrui, Minister of State for Youth.

As the museum is expected to open soon, this new venture aims to accelerate the Emirates’ role in incubating Arab and global talent. “We built the Museum of the Future as a global hub for scientists, thinkers and innovators — it is the ideal headquarters for a fund to develop the potential of our region’s finest minds.”

HH Sheikh Mohammed took rule of Dubai in 2006, after the death of his brother Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid, as soon as members of the UAE Supreme Council elected him as vice president and prime minister. Each year, Sheikh Mohammed celebrates his accession by initiating a project that supports education and knowledge.
