On Wednesday, Time magazine revealed its list of the “100 Most Influential People” of 2019 and among them is His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

HH Sheikh Mohamed is the only Middle Eastern political leader to be named in the list which chooses the influential people under four categories: leaders, pioneers, artists, icons, and titans.

In his piece on Sheikh Mohamed for Time magazine, geopolitical analyst Ryan Bohl wrote, “[Sheikh Mohamed] military-first approach, which has earned the UAE the nickname of Little Sparta among some U.S. officials, carries costs born of blood in Yemen and reputation in Western capitals. But [Sheikh Mohamed] attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, and he’s a long-term thinker; the firm belief that the benefits outweigh the costs compels him onward.”

The leaders’ category of the list includes personalities like Pope Francis, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, US President Donald Trump, China’s Xi Jinping as well as New Zealand’s PM Jacinda Ardern.
