Synergy Production Company announced the full cast for the sequel of its 2014 classic Blue Elephant (El-Feel el-Azraa) on Sunday evening— and it’s amazing. Part two of the film will see returning actors Karim Abdel Aziz and Nelly Karim feature alongside Hend Sabri, who will be joining the star-studded cast for the first time. Marwan Hamed will be directing the film (he also directed the first one), which is set for a summer 2019 premiere. The Tunisian actress’s role and the sequel’s plot have been kept under wraps for now, though shooting for the film started this November.
Sabri took to her Instagram account to share the exciting news with an image of herself alongside the cast, writing: “Thrilled and excited for joining this amazing crew for the Blue Elephant movie part 2.”
The Blue Elephant tells the story of a psychotherapist named Dr. Yehia. Five years after his wife and daughter passed away, the doctor returns to his job at the Al Abbasia hospital, where he is responsible for treating criminally insane patients. His life immediately takes a turn when he discovers that his best friend has just been transferred to his wing for psychological evaluation for brutally murdering his wife.
Known as one of the highest-grossing Egyptian films in the last 10 years, The Blue Elephant grossed more than 35 million Egyptian pounds during Eid Al Adha in 2014.
