On Wednesday, actor and singer Halle Bailey shared the first picture of her son Halo together with partner and rapper DDG on Instagram. The Little Mermaid star took to the social media platform to reveal her child’s face through a sweet family portrait taken in Italy. The picture shared with Bailey’s 8.7 million followers sees the family dressed in coordinated white looks, with the parents against a scenic blue ocean while holding up their son and beaming at the camera. Bailey captioned the photos, “Halo’s first time in Italy,” and DDG joked, “Who [does] Halo look like more?” as he posted a picture of himself as a baby on his own account for fans to compare.

The couple welcomed their son in December 2023 before announcing the happy news on January 6 and had since kept their child’s identity protected. Bailey previously spoke about motherhood, and the “severe” post-partum depression she experienced after childbirth. “Halo is a miracle. He is perfect. He is beautiful. When I look at him, I cry because of how special he is,” Bailey shared via Snapchat. “The only thing that’s been hard for me is feeling normal in my own body. I feel like a completely different person. When I look in the mirror, I just feel like I’m in a whole new body. Like, I don’t know who I am.”

Bailey went on to address her mental health in detail, in the hopes that new mothers and working moms would be able to relate to it and find comfort. “I just wanted to speak a little bit about my postpartum journey as a new mom, and now trying to work while still being severely postpartum,” Bailey said in the video. “Honestly, I have severe, severe postpartum… I don’t know if any new moms can relate, but it’s to the point where it’s really bad. It’s hard for me to be separated from my baby for more than 30 minutes at a time before I start to kind of freak out.”

The 24-year-old star ended her video with an important message for fans and internet users, and urged them to be kind. “Even though you may look up to certain people and you think that they are celebrities, and they appear to have it all together, you never know what somebody else is going through, especially someone who just had a baby literally,” Bailey said.
