Congratulations to Halle Bailey, on the birth of her first baby!

The actor and singer welcomed a baby boy with her partner, rapper DDG, and announced the happy news via Instagram this weekend. The Little Mermaid actor also revealed the name of their son in the Instagram post, which features an image of Bailey holding the baby’s hand adorned with a gold bracelet inscribed with ‘Halo’. Her caption read: “Even though we’re a few days into the new year, the greatest thing that 2023 could have done for me, was bring me my son.. Welcome to the world my halo. The world is desperate to know you.” DDG took to Instagram to share a similar photo, writing that their baby is the “biggest blessing by far” and that he has “never been so in love.”

While Halle Bailey has been in a relationship with DDG for more than a year, she is known for keeping her life extremely private, having also kept her pregnancy under wraps. In an interview with British Vogue in 2022 she revealed that “experiencing deep love for the first time in my life is something I feel has opened a whole new world for me creatively.” She added, “I like all of the scary feelings that come with that. I like the suspense, the not knowing what’s going to happen, and I feel like that’s what I’m supposed to be going through in womanhood.”
Fresh off the success of playing Young Nettie in the film adaptation of The Color Purple, Bailey is also gearing up for the launch of her debut solo album, following her EP ‘Angel’. Speaking to Cosmopolitan, Bailey shared that the album is inspired by her “first, deep, deep real love,” referring to her relationship with DG. “Love has been a really big one for me too, because that’s something I’m experiencing for the first time, and it’s, like, ‘whoa’ in your brain. It’s just fireworks, a spark for creativity,” she added.
