There’s never a geotag because there doesn’t have to be: The stark Utah desert-scape, the minimalist concrete overhangs, rooms with wooden platform beds and floor to ceiling windows…they’re all unmistakable hallmarks of the Amangiri.

The five star resort in Canyon Point, Utah, has been an oasis for celebrities since opening in 1998. Case in point: over the past few weeks, Hailey Bieber, Justin Bieber, and Kylie Jenner have stayed there, using the impeccably designed property, as well as its stunning natural scenery, as the backdrop for many, many Instagram posts.

“Adventure time,” Jenner wrote on a recent series of pictures of her posing on the Amangiri’s crisp white recliners, surrounded by towering canyons. (On another similar post, she used the classic vacation caption: “be back soon.”) In both, she wears a body-con burnt orange dress, a perfect complement to the desert’s natural tones.

The Kardashian-Jenners are Amangiri superfans: Kim Kardashian celebrated her birthday there in 2017, and a year later, Kourtney Kardashian did the same. Just this May, it was reported that Kourtney, Scott, and their three children stayed there for a fun family vacation.

In late June, Justin and Hailey Bieber also enjoyed a luxurious getaway on its 600 acres. In one stunning shot, she stands in the crystalline pool, cowboy hat on, a vast concrete wall behind her. In another, she simply shared the view from her and Justin’s room: rolling hills dotted with shrubs and surrounded by a moody sky. “Went on a road trip,” she wrote. Last year, they spent a similar weekend at the Amangiri: a source told E! News in 2019 that the couple “ate amazing food and seemed to love everything about their stay.”

What’s so fantastic about this property? The raw concrete architecture, which effortlessly ebbs into the surrounding rocks and dunes, for one. But even the comfiest bed and most well-appointed room comes in second to its true attraction: nature itself.

Located on the Arizona-Utah border, the Amangiri is dramatically secluded. It sits in the middle of Grand Staircase-Escalante, over 1 million acres of protected land that was the last area to be mapped in the contiguous United States. On the hotel’s 600 acres, you’ll find canyons and mountains, mesas, rivers, and deserts. Hiking is a must-do at the Amangiri, as is tackling its via ferrata (or, a climbing trail that you scale with cables). Then there are journeys to nearby slot canyons—fantastical sandstone creations that will take your breath away. Boating in the serene waters of nearby Lake Powell is another popular attraction for guests.

With its remote, outdoorsy location and luxurious lodging, it’s easy to see why the Amangiri is so popular, especially as demand for travel picks up again.  Before traveling, always make sure you are taking the appropriate steps to minimize risk for yourself and for others.
