Grey’s Anatomy fans, rejoice: The show is officially coming back for a 19th season, effectively squashing rumors that it’s ending. That’s right: You don’t have to say goodbye to Meredith Grey and company just yet.

Grey’s Anatomy is a true phenomenon, beloved by audiences around the world,” said Dana Walden, chairman of entertainment for Walt Disney Television. “Whether they catch it live on ABC, or stream it on Hulu or globally on Disney+ or Star+, it’s clear that fans can’t get enough of Shonda Rhimes’s brilliant creation. We have enormous faith in Shonda, Krista Vernoff, Ellen Pompeo, and the entire creative team to unlock new, untold stories that will continue to focus on modern medicine, tackle the issues that shape the world around us, and resonate deeply with loyal fans for years to come.”

“I couldn’t be more excited that we get to keep telling the stories of Meredith, Bailey, Richard, and all of the other doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial for another season,” said Shonda Rhimes. “This is a true testament to Krista Vernoff, the cast, the crew, and all the writers who keep the audience on the edge of their seat week after week. And it would not be possible without the generations of incredible fans who have supported Grey’s Anatomy for so many years.”

Grey’s Anatomy has a global impact that can’t be overstated,” said executive producer and showrunner Krista Vernoff. “Grey’s touches, and sometimes changes, hearts and minds worldwide through the depth of connection people feel with these characters. I’m excited to work with our extraordinary writers to dream up where we go from here, and I’m always grateful to our partners at Disney and ABC for letting us tell bold stories with real impact.”

Here’s everything we know about the upcoming season:

When will it premiere?

October 6 at 9 p.m.

Who is joining the cast?

So many fresh faces! Though the storylines will still revolve around Meredith, there’s a new crop of surgical residents joining the GSM team. ICYMI, at the end of last season, the surgical residents were all sent home so that the program could get a fresh start. Which means a bunch of new young doctors.

Alexis Floyd, who first caught our eye as the taken-for-a-ride concierge on Inventing Anna (another Shondaland joint), will play Simone Griffin, “a new first-year surgical resident at Grey Sloan. A funny, whip-smart, high achiever with a complicated family dynamic. She grew up in Seattle, but never wanted to work at Grey Sloan because of a painful personal history with the hospital,” Deadline announced in July.

Joining Floyd in the locker room are some actors you may recognize. Reign’s Adelaide Kane will play Jules Millin, who was “raised by drug-addled artists/hippies and somehow emerged as the only real grown-up in the family. Because she always had to take care of herself and her parents, she can be a little bossy–but her heart is always in the right place. She’s not afraid to break the rules to save a life, and sometimes it gets her in trouble.” Midori Francis (The Sex Lives of College Girls, Dash & Lily, “You Loved Brad” commercial) will star as Mika Yasuda, “a middle child with eight siblings. She is used to being overlooked and underestimated and uses it to her advantage. Mika is dealing with overwhelming student loans from med school, but she’s scrappy and confident she can make it in the program and rise to the top.” And Niko Terho plays Lucas Adams, “the charming black sheep of his family. Likable to a fault, he has a great mind but doesn’t have the grades to match. He’s determined to prove himself as a surgeon, just like many in his family that have come before him, but he will have to stop relying on his people skills and put in the work.” (All character descriptions via Deadline.)
