Gigi Hadid’s most anticipated debut on the Food Network aired this week showing the Palestinian-American model in an episode of Beat Bobby Flay – her favorite show. The 25-year-old made an appearance on the competition along with chef Anne Burrell and Bobby Flay on the episode which was filmed in October last year.

Hadid, daughter of Dutch model Yolanda Hadid and Palestinian-Jordanian real estate mogul Mohamed Hadid, has often paid tribute to her father for introducing her to Middle Eastern food and inculcating a love for it while growing up. During the reality TV show, which was broadcast on the Food Network on June 21, the 25-year-old helped the American chef prepare a falafel dish.

The video shows Hadid expertly scoop out and rolled the chickpeas, impressing Flay who remarks, “you’ve done this before”. Hadid, who is currently expecting her first child with British-Pakistani singer Zayn Malik, shares with Food Network in the same episode, “I used to go to this restaurant and form falafels in the back with my dad.” She goes on to add that the Food Network episode is an homage to her father and is aptly aired on Father’s Day. Mohamed Hadid, who was born in Nazareth (Palestine) and spent time in refugee camps as a child, has previously spoken about making sure his children are “proud of their Palestinian heritage.”

Hadid is well known for documenting her love for food and her kitchen skills on social media along with the highlights section of her Instagram Stories called “From My Kitchen” which is solely dedicated to showcasing the various dishes she is known to whip up from time to time. In February this year, Hadid spoke about her favorite Palestinian food on Twitter. As part of a Q&A, Hadid said that kibbeh with labneh and tabbouleh is a go-to along with eggs and zaatar for breakfast.
