Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik sure are the doting new parents to their baby Khai. As smitten as they are with their child, the couple has continued to put their baby’s needs first and have been navigating the boundary between protecting her privacy and connecting with their fans.

Since giving birth, Hadid has been hesitant about sharing too much about her daughter; posting pictures of only her hands or feet or placing emojis over her daughter’s face. Although their baby was born in September 2020, the couple didn’t reveal Khai’s name up until a month ago, when the model discreetly updated her Instagram bio to read “Khai’s mom.”

The Vogue US cover star revealed in a recent interview that she and Malik are making privacy a priority for their daughter. The model shared taking parenting cues from celebrity couple and friends Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. “I have friends who are public figures and that’s how they’ve gone about it, and I see their kids really blossom in a different way,” stated Hadid citing Lively and Reynolds. The model’s sister, Bella Hadid, also weighed in on this topic and said, “I think she wants to be real online, but until her child wants to be in the spotlight and can make the decision herself, she doesn’t want to put her in that position.”

The model also opened up about her experience with home birth. Hadid initially planned on delivering the baby at a New York City hospital. However, due to Covid-19, the limit on the number of individuals in the delivery room meant that her sister and mother Yolanda Hadid couldn’t be present, and so the model chose to give birth at home instead.

The 25-year-old also told Vogue that she would be raising her daughter in Pennsylvania, similarly to how she was raised. “The greenery and the farm-y lifestyle are similar to what made me feel really centered as a kid, and I think that’s really important to Zayn and me,” she said.
