Besides being two of the world’s most renowned models, Gigi and Bella Hadid are also doting daughters to Mohamed Hadid. The part-Palestinian sisters frequently take to their social media pages to show love for their father—from sharing childhood pictures to glimpses of their time spent together.

With the Winter Olympics 2022 in full swing in Beijing, Gigi and Bella couldn’t help but celebrate their father, who is a known Olympian himself. In a tribute to Hadid, Bella shared several throwback pictures of him from over 30 years ago, while also showcasing their Palestinian pride. “My Baba in the 1992 Winter Olympics for SPEED SKIING! 30 years ago from today!” Bella captioned the photos. “He was the only Palestinian, competing for Jordan trained by Franz Weber. Birthplace… NAZARETH! A refugee to the Olympics. I am so proud.” The images see Mohamed Hadid in his skiing gear, and an official document with his details including Nazareth as the birthplace, and a three-and-a-half-year skiing experience.  The photo set was reposted by Gigi, to which their father responded saying, “Thank you my love. Proud to be your father.”

The real estate mogul also reflected on the moment and thanked his trainer via his own Instagram account: “A moment in my history with my kindest host and Olympic legend, the fastest man on ski. @franzweber222 taught me everything I know about skiing, discipline, achievements, focus.” Fronting the Vogue Man Arabia cover in 2019, Hadid reflected on his journey, opening up about how he learned speed skiing in a wind tunnel in Pasadena during his unexpected time off, and earned a spot on the Jordan Olympic team.  “I always thought big,” he said, adding, “You don’t need to think about it; you grab it, then decide and learn to do it. Don’t let an opportunity pass you by. There is no such thing as failure.”
