As the Friends Reunion is Postponed, Here are the 10 Best Episodes to Watch as Consolation

With film and television production grinding to a halt, it’s no surprise that the Friends reunion has been postponed indefinitely. Happily, however, Friends is still available to watch on Netflix – here are team Vogue’s favorites.

The One With The Blackout, Season 1, Episode 7
Yes, the tension between Ross and Rachel is palpable, but this episode really belongs to Chandler, who finds himself trapped in an ATM vestibule with Victoria’s Secret model Jill Goodacre.

The One Where Eddie Won’t Go, Season 2, Episode 19

Adam Goldberg’s turn as Chandler’s psychotic, goldfish-obsessed temporary housemate is brilliant. Plus, Joey’s ceramic greyhound statue, later known as Pat, makes its first appearance.

The One With The Giant Poking Device, Season 3, Episode 8

This episode includes three classic Friends “bits”: Janice at her most nasal; Phoebe at her most delusional; and lots of staring at Ugly Naked Guy.

The One With The Wedding Dresses, Season 4, Episode 20

If you cannot be physically hanging out with your girlfriends, watching Phoebe, Monica and Rachel down beers and eat popcorn in truly hideous ’90s wedding dresses is the next best thing.

The One With All The Resolutions, Season 5, Episode 11

In summary: Ross goes on a date with a girl named Elizabeth Hornswoggle while wearing leather pants.

The One With The Proposal: Parts 1 & 2, Season 6, Episodes 24 & 25

The love triangle between Chandler, Monica and Richard is as dramatic as Friends ever really gets, but it’s worth a few moments of tension to see Monica’s tear-jerking candlelit proposal (with Joey on tenterhooks on the other side of the door).

The One With All The Cheesecakes, Season 7, Episode 11

Watching Rachel and Chandler devour cheesecakes from Mama’s Little Bakery is guaranteed to make you feel better about your quarantine diet. Bonus points for the sweet moment between Joey and Phoebe at the close of the episode after David once again departs for Minsk.

The One Where Chandler Takes A Bath, Season 8, Episode 13

A lot happens in Monica’s bathroom at this point in the series, from Rachel figuring out she’s pregnant to Joey confessing his love for her. This episode sees Chandler trying to navigate the emotional maelstrom while horizontal in the tub with a plastic toy boat – in typically hilarious fashion.

The One With The Sharks, Season 9, Episode 4

Monica is convinced that Chandler is turned on by Great Whites, Ross pretends to be Phoebe’s imaginary kite-designing ex-boyfriend Vikram, and Joey forgets who he’s slept with… A true classic.

The One With Phoebe’s Wedding, Season 10, Episode 12

Yes, The Last One is great, but nobody has the emotional capacity for that right now. Phoebe’s wedding is the emotional finale that Friends deserved – because if anybody deserved a happy ending, it was Phoebs.
