After winning the bid in 2013, Dubai has been on a mission to make Expo 2020 the best one in its 168-year-old history. Now, with less than 450 days remaining, the excitement levels are rising.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai was recently accompanied by his son His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai on visits to multiple infrastructure sites for Expo 2020 Dubai. The area boasts pavilions which represent 190 countries, and they will be on full display in October 2020; when the event takes off in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia region for the first time in Expo history.

With Burj Khalifa providing exceptional views of Dubai’s landscape, the Expo 2020 will give visitors breathtaking views from the ground. How? The rotating observation tower features a bird’s eye view, a circular window on the top of the building, that will allow visitors to gaze into the distance.
In the city with a history of record-breaking achievements, the Expo 2020 will also host the world’s biggest 360-degree projection surface on Al Wasl Plaza’s steel dome in the Opportunity Pavilion — entirely made of 2,500tonnes of stone and 111km of rope. Another architectural marvel to look out for is the UAE Pavilion. Recently visited by HH Sheikh Mohammed, this pavilion will resemble a Falcon in flight and will tell the incredible story of UAE and Emiratis.
Expo 2020 will also be a treat for food lovers, as it features more than 200 restaurants and culinary experiences. Visitors can connect with people and cultures by discovering more than 50 cuisines that will be available during the 6-month event.
According to the official Expo website, “HH Sheikh Mohammed said he was satisfied with the progress being made throughout the Expo site, which will welcome a projected 25 million visits, and his happiness with the commitment of Emirati youth as they contribute to the largest event ever staged in the Arab world.”
UAE residents were offered free bus tours to get an exclusive sneak peek of the innovative Expo 2020 site. As of now, all the slots are fully booked but click here for any updates.
The Expo 2020, also known as “The World’s Greatest Show in the Making”, has officially started its countdown.
