On November 19, members of the UAE’s thriving fitness community can avail the rare opportunity to run through the Expo 2020 Dubai venue, past 192 pavilions. The Expo 2020 Dubai Run gives participants of all ages and nationalities a choice of 3 distances – 3km, 5km, and 10km.
Based on the distance, participants will be divided into age groups. For the 3k run, participants will be categorized from 0-8 years, 9-12 years, 13-18 years, 19+. The 5k run consists of eight categories ranging from below-13, 13-15 years, 16-18 years, 19-29 years, 30-39 years, 40-49 years, 50-59 years, and 60+, while the 10k consists of below-19, 19-29 years, 30-39 years, 40-49 years, 50-59 years, 60+ categories.

In preparation for the run, the Dubai Sports Council has organized multiple training sessions and runs in collaboration with AIS athletics. Participants can also join The World Family Run, which is a 1.3km family-friendly run through Ghaf Avenue. There will be four runs as part of ‘The World Family Run’, sponsored by the Dubai Sports Council, every Saturday from 9th to 30th October. The Council has also organized free morning and evening training sessions throughout October, from seasoned distance coaches, as well as the Expo Running Club that will be held at the Expo Park from October 3-6, October 10-13, October 17–20, and October 24 to 27.
The Dubai Sports Council also has more exciting events planned for the coming months including the 16th Dubai International Sports Conference (DISC), the Dubai Globe Soccer Awards, the FIDE World Chess Championship 2021, and the Hamdan Bin Rashid Masters International Chess Championship. Additionally, Dubai will be hosting 30 international sporting events during the course of Expo 2020 Dubai such as the cricket Twenty20 World Cup and men’s and women’s Rugby World Cup qualifiers, among others.
Registrations for the Expo 2020 Dubai Run are available on the PremierOnline website till November 1, or sooner depending on availability.
