Expo 2020 Dubai Is Kickingstarting the New Year on January 1 2022 With Six Must-See Attractions

While Expo 2020 Dubai will be going all-out with its New Year’s Eve celebrations, January 1 2022 will also witness the beginning of another entertainment program celebrating the first day of 2022. From cultural events extended across the month, to food deals and programs, art installations, and concerts, Expo 2020 Dubai is offering family-friendly activities for everyone to enjoy. Get familiar with some of the events happening on January 1 below.

“Veganuary”

Marking the beginning of the UK initiative Veganuary, a selection of restaurants from different pavilions and districts will be offering vegan meal deals on January 1 before the full Veganuary festival kicks off on January 14. The Australian Pavilion’s Melbourne Lane will serve hot or iced vegan lattes, Milo chocolate, fruit smoothies, and dairy-free cheese toasties.

The Opportunity District will also get a taste of vegan meals through Canvas by Coffee + Culture’s all-vegan day menu, and coffee from the Emirati Coffee Roastery. Adrift Burger Bar is also planning on making any burger vegan upon request throughout January 2022, using the Impossible Burger Patty and a vegan bun.

The Singapore Pavilion’s food kiosk will display a selection of vegan siew mai, char siew pau and satay, while the Korean restaurant at the Republic of Korea pavilion in the Mobility district will serve up plant-based Korean specials.

Dogs with Dubai Police

Starting January 1, dog lovers will now get a chance to boost their oxytocin levels at Expo 2020 Dubai with Dubai Police every Saturday from 6pm to 8pm, until March 26. The Main Smart Police Station at Al Wasl Zone will be showcasing its spaniels, cocker spaniels, and border collies for pictures.

Yemen Day

Expo 2020’s country day program will kick off with Yemen, where Yemeni music and performances will be light up the venue all month. Four singers including Hussawin Moheb, ten musicians, and Yemeni folkloric dancers will take up the Dubai Millenium Amphitheatre from 8pm till 11 pm on January 1, 2022.

Belarusian Ensemble

Vytsinanka, a folk music Belarusian ensemble, will light up the pavilion with regional folklore, songs, and other music styles between 11 am and noon.

 Hungarian Swing Show

A 10-piece band from Hungary called Group’n’Swing will represent their country with a blend of soul, pop, twist, rock, and swing at Expo 20202 Dubai. The group, which has previously performed several times at the Eurivision Song Contest, will be playing tunes with alluring choreography at the Sea Stage in the Mobility District on January 1 and 2.

Held at the Jubilee Park at 9.30pm will be a trio concert by Arqam, Hamza Hawsawi, and Jassim Mohammed. Arqam is an Emirati soul artist who also plays the keyboard and guitar. Hawsawi is a Saudi singer who first appeared on the screen of The X Factor Arabia in 2013, and built up an audience with his unique blend of R&B and local music. Mohammed is an Emirati singer and Oud player who is distinguished by his Opera music.
