Season 2 might have just wrapped up, but we’re already looking forward to Euphoria Season 3 — and we’re not alone. The HBO series, created by Sam Levinson, first premiered in 2019 but undoubtedly reached new heights with Season 2.
According to a report by Variety, Euphoria is now officially the second most-watched show in HBO’s history, trailing only behind Game of Thrones. Per the report, 6.6 million viewers tuned in for the season 2 finale and per-episode viewership for season 2 averaged 16.3 million (as opposed to 6.6 million during season 1.)
Tied to the viewership momentum is the show’s Internet-breaking Twitter discourse. Fans of the series have taken to the app consistently throughout the entire second season to propose theories, discuss plot lines, and share memes. The interest is so high that even Twitter confirmed Euphoria had become the most-tweeted-about TV show of the decade ahead of the season 2 finale. So, as expected, fans are already on the lookout for any news relating to Euphoria Season 3.
With that in mind, we scoured the internet for clues to answer all your pressing questions about Euphoria Season 3 below.
Will Euphoria Return for Season 3?
Yes! HBO announced the series had officially been renewed for a third season on February 4, 2022.
“Sam, Zendaya, and the entire cast and crew of Euphoria have taken Season 2 to extraordinary heights, challenging narrative convention and form, while maintaining its heart. We couldn’t be more honored to work with this gifted, wildly talented team or more excited to continue our journey with them into Season 3,” Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President of HBO Programming, said to coincide with the announcement.
When Will Euphoria Season 3 Air?
No tentative release date has been announced as of yet by HBO, but fans are speculating season 3 could premiere sometime in 2024.
Euphoria Season 1 premiered back in June 2019 and Season 2 followed suit in January 2022, more than two years later.
However, it is worth noting production for Season 2 was halted due to the coronavirus pandemic in March 2020 and did not resume until 2021 — so the gap between Season 2 and 3 could be smaller.
That said, another thing fans are using to predict a potential release date is the actors’ busy schedules. Zendaya, for example, currently has two projects in pre-production: Dune: Part Two and Challengers. Sydney Sweeney is another of Euphoria‘s busy bees. Among other projects currently being developed, she’s set to star in National Anthem alongside Halsey.
How Many Episodes Will Euphoria Season 3 Have?
Again, nothing official has been announced but it’s safe to assume Euphoria Season 3 will likely have eight episodes. Season 1 featured eight episodes and so did Season 2, with Rue’s and Jules’s special episodes, titled “Trouble Don’t Last Always” and “F*ck Anyone Who’s Not A Sea Blob,” airing in between.
What Will Euphoria Season 3 Be About?
Now, this is the million-dollar question. What will Euphoria Season 3 be about? Your guess is as good as ours! The Season 2 finale left us with plenty of unanswered questions so we can expect at least some of those to be addressed during Season 3 — or so we hope. Rue’s story is inspired by director Sam Levinson’s own experiences, so audiences can expect her to continue being the focus going forward.
