Emirates airlines will soon operate a historic flight ahead of the UAE National Day. On November 29, the Dubai-based airline will fly an Airbus A380 aircraft aiming to bring together and celebrate the multicultural communities of the country. The special journey aboard the EK209 flight will see “as many nationalities on board as possible.”

According to an Emirates spokesperson, the aircraft is anticipating “more than 500 passengers,” and will be airborne for approximately one-and-a-half hours, The National reported. The aircraft will not be a regular one either. Adorned with a bespoke “Year of Tolerance” livery, the commissioned A380 will show a panoramic image of people from different cultures and backgrounds holding each others’ hands.

The spokesperson also added that the “Selection will be carried out via multiple criteria, but passengers need to reside in the UAE in order to qualify.”

“Much like the UAE, which is home to 200 nationalities, Emirates employs over 160 nationalities and draws strength from the diversity and shared values that brings its employees together,” said Emirates in a statement.

All citizens and residents of the UAE are invited to register by November 19 for a chance to be selected. This memorable flight will take place right before the long holiday starts in the UAE. There will be three days of public holiday to mark National Day and Commemoration Day.
