British singer Ellie Goulding married art dealer Caspar Jopling on Saturday, August 31, at the York Minster Cathedral in England. Dressed in a bespoke Victorian-inspired wedding dress from Chloé, the star arrived at the ceremony in a bright blue Volkswagen adorned with flowers. The dress was designed by creative director Natacha Ramsay-Levi with inputs by Goulding. “Ellie was very involved in the design of her wedding dress,” shared Natacha Ramsay-Levi with British Vogue. “Together we worked on a collage of references from the Victorian era that she wanted to weave into the design, in dialogue with the historical York cathedral where the ceremony was to take place. Her creative point of view made the process fluid and inspiring, and I feel that the end result really reflects her personal sense of style.”
Made from silk crêpe, the long-sleeved gown was hand-embroidered with White Rose of York symbols and featured a high neck and ruffles. According to The Telegraph, Jopling’s suit had been a bespoke design by English fashion house Huntsman.
The traditional ceremony was attended by British-American actress Sienna Miller, English comedian Jimmy Carr, and American pop star Katy Perry with her fiancé, Orlando Bloom.
Flowers had been all around the venue at the wedding, with the highlight being the floral arch by the entrance of the York Minster. Upon taking down the arrangements, the florists gave the flowers away to the fans and people who had stood outside the venue, waiting to catch a glimpse of the married couple. Photographer Paul Ratcliffe shared photos of the flowers on Twitter saying, “How lovely is this. The florists dismantling the arrangements at York Minster gave them away to crowds who had watched. So I now have a lovely vase full.”
The couple were engaged in August 2018 and shared the news in the marriage section of the London Times instead of announcing it on Instagram.
