Why Lebanese Singer Elissa’s Next Album Will Be Her Last One Ever

Elissa

Fans of Elissa received heartbreaking news today when the Lebanese singer announced the end of her career. Elissa took to Twitter to share that she had been dedicatedly working on an album because it would be the last one she would ever make. She continued to say that though she was announcing this with a heavy heart, she was filled with conviction because she couldn’t “work in a field that is similar to mafias.” She ended her note by saying, “I can’t be productive anymore.”

In August last year, the 46-year-old singer had revealed that she had been secretly fighting breast cancer for months. Through a seven-minute music video for her song For All Those Who Love Me (Ila Kol Elli Bihebbouni), Elissa showed her fans her radiotherapy sessions along with a voiceover of the singer speaking about her battle. The video’s over one million views and 7,000 comments within the day of it being released were a testament to her popularity and the love Elissa’s fans have for her. Having overcome breast cancer, the award-winning singer was back in the studio, creating new music.

The former X Factor Arabia and The Voice Arabia judge has sold more than 30 million albums, and in 2005, 2006, and 2010 received the World Music Award for Best Selling Middle Eastern Artist. Earlier this month, Elissa had been declared the most popular Arab singer after reaching the milestone of 10 million followers on Twitter.
