It’s been a momentous year for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, from welcoming their son Archie in the spring to completing their first royal tour as a family of three in southern Africa this autumn. Taking to Instagram on New Year’s Eve, the couple shared a touching highlights reel from the last 12 months, with a personal message for their followers. “Wishing you all a very Happy New Year and thanking you for your continued support!” reads the post. “We’ve loved meeting so many of you from around the world and can’t wait to meet many more of you next year. We hope 2020 brings each of you health and continued happiness.”
Included in the video montage are intimate family photos – from shots of Archie’s christening in a private chapel in Windsor Castle to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex introducing their son to Archbishop Desmond Tutu in South Africa. Meanwhile, the Duchess can be seen presenting her Smart Set collection; exchanging a hug with none other than Beyoncé at The Lion King premiere; and taking to the stage at the One Young World summit in London. The cover of British Vogue’s September 2019 issue, guest-edited by the Duchess, also appears.
As for the final photo? The Duke is seen carrying a warmly dressed Archie along the shores of a lake – most likely in Canada, where the family is taking a short break from royal duties over the festive period. Watch the video, set to Coldplay’s “Yellow”, in full below.
