A greater sense of normalcy is set to return to Dubai as authorities have lifted a series of Covid-19 restrictions. On Monday, May 17, Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management announced updated precautionary measures for events and activities, effective immediately. The revised measures will be in place for a trial period of a month which can be extended.

The restrictions have been lifted on the condition that the precautionary measures are observed and performers and entertainers have been vaccinated against Covid-19. The committee also stressed that wearing a face mask and social distancing remains mandatory for people attending events and activities.

Read on below for the full list of updated rules.

All entertainment facilities and venues are allowed to have an increased capacity of 70% while hotel occupancy has been raised to 100%.

Community sports events, concerts, and social and institutional events like gala dinners and award ceremonies can take place after obtaining a permit provided that attendees and participants have been vaccinated and observe the latest precautionary measures as required under the permit type.

Those vaccinated can also attend sports events where all participants and staff have also received the vaccine. The attendance capacity for these permitted events should not exceed 70 percent and the maximum attendance allowed is 1,500 for indoor events and 2,500 for outdoor events.

Weddings in venues and hotels can now take place with a maximum attendance capped at 100 people while weddings at home can have no more than 30. All attendees must observe the updated precautionary measures, including social distancing rules and wearing of masks.

In restaurants, the maximum number of people allowed to sit at a single table has been increased to 10 while coffee shops can have a maximum of six people per table. Brunches have also been resumed with strict observance of updated precautionary measures outlined by authorities.
