BBC Radio 1 has announced a charity single to benefit coronavirus relief, and will be performed by major pop stars like Dua Lipa, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Rita Ora and Ellie Goulding on Thursday. The initiative features a team of 23 of the biggest artists from across genres including pop, rock, R&B and soul, who will be performing a cover of the Foo Fighters’ Times Like These. The track will be accompanied by a video which will release on BBC’s The Big Night In telethon on Thursday night. Proceeds from the Stay Home Live Lounge recording will benefit the World Health Organization’s Covid-19-Solidarity Response Fund. “I am so proud that we’ve been able to come together to record this track and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it,” Lipa said in a statement. “Thinking of everyone around the world at this difficult time. Love you all.”

“I’m honored to join such a great line up,” Goulding added. “More so than ever it’s important to remember the valuable role we each have to play in bringing hope, courage, and strength to one another. I hope that this track brings comfort at such a difficult time.” Also joining the line up are 5 Seconds Of Summer, AJ Tracey, Anne-Marie, Bastille, Biffy Clyro, Hailee Steinfeld, Jess Glynne, Mabel, Paloma Faith, Rag’n’Bone Man, Royal Blood, YUNGBLUD and Zara Larsson. The Stay Home Live Lounge will be recorded and filmed by artists from their own homes, and produced by Grammy award-winning producer Fraser T. Smith.

The charity single has been announced right after One World: Together at Home, a global musical charity project helmed by Lady Gaga that also benefited the Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund, among other projects.
